Recognizing the challenges of urban parking,

I opened a feature in Waze that displays parking in blue and white to improve the overall navigation and parking experience for users.

This feature is designed to integrate seamlessly with the existing Waze platform, providing
a comprehensive solution to the complexities of finding suitable parking spaces in urban areas.

While the Wiz effectively guides drivers to their destinations, it currently lacks accessibility to 'blue and white' regulated urban parking areas.

Comparison of 'Blue and White' Street Parking versus Parking Lots:

Short Parking:
Unlike parking lots, where you pay for a full hour even for partial use, street parking allows users to pay according to the actual minutes of parking.

Location:
Street parking is typically much closer to the destination than parking lots, which are often not within walking distance on average.

Price:
City parking lots are considerably more affordable, with city parking costing approximately 25% of the parking lot price.

Although the application directs users to regulated parking lots, this proves to be a limited solution for the current user's needs.

Fitzger's users can expect instant navigation to regulated city street parking conveniently located near their destination, taking into account the limitations of current parking options.

Objective:

I did research for a number of apps that identify parking areas marked in blue and white.

Research

Some of these applications are intended to serve as payment platforms for parking services. During my research, I delved into the data these apps provide about the identified parking zones. This included examining the details and information displayed on each parking location, such as rates, availability and any applicable restrictions. In addition, I analyzed how these parking areas are visually represented in the application's map interface.

In addition, I also extensively tested the navigation menu within the Waze application. I explored how Waze incorporates parking information into its overall navigation framework, while evaluating the effectiveness of the user interface in facilitating a smooth and user-friendly parking experience.

Survey

I conducted a user survey, and asked the following questions:

How often do you park in the areas marked in blue and white?

What criteria do you use to identify parking lots with blue and white markings?

In the event that the Waze application directs you to a parking lot with blue and white markings, how simple will it be for you to find parking?

Market analysis

In my quest for a parking zone, I typically prefer a local, budget-friendly blue and white parking sector.

Once I arrive at my intended location, I'm keen to explore the existing parking amenities near the surrounding streets.

I conducted interviews with users, which sharpened my pain and the need for a solution.

Challenge

Lack of sufficient visibility of parking in nearby streets when searching for parking

when looking for parking in the actual area, there is also parking in blue and white on the nearby streets that are sometimes more convenient and available to the user, but waze does not show them as a menu that comes up immediately when searching for parking.

Currently, Waze provides navigation for designated parking lots, but it does not offer navigation for blue and white parking zones.

Insight

I tried to face the challenge of identifying free parking spaces by designing a solution that includes integration of payment systems with apps. However, the implementation faced
a significant obstacle due to the lack of cameras capable of accurately measuring the size of a recently vacated space. As a result, establishing an exact correlation between the dimensions of the vehicle and the available parking space turned out to be unattainable.
